The Rota Vicentina
A trail along the Atlantic South West coast of Portugal. This area has been declared a conservation area. The route consists of two paths.
Right along the coast the Fisherman's Trail.
This trail follows the paths that fishermen used in the past to get to their favorite fishing spots. The coast consists of dunes (loose sand), impressive cliffs and coves with sandy beaches.
The Historical Way runs more inland but still remains close to the coast. The terrain is hilly and covered with cork oak and eucalyptus trees. Here and there the route passes through a picturesque village.
The routes are well signposted. In addition it is possible to combine both routes.
Fundalao offers a perfect base with good beds (90x200) and a comfortable shower for those who want to explore parts or several stages of the Rota Vicentina without having to look for a new accommodation for each night.
From our house you can cover 7 stages of the route and even more combinations. Transportation to and from beginning and end can be arranged. This makes it possible to enjoy your walking in the beautiful landscape without having to carry too much luggage.
